Comparison

Hawfinch
vs Zapier.

Lots of agencies start by wiring leads to buyers with Zaps. Zapier is a general automation tool that connects thousands of apps. Hawfinch only sells leads to buyers, and the routing, checks and records for that are already built.

Quick verdict

Two kinds of tool.

A summary before we get into routing logic.

Zapier
Connects almost anything.
  • 9,000+ apps
  • Free plan with 100 tasks a month
  • Professional from $19.99 a month billed yearly, with 750 tasks
  • Webhooks, filters and paths on paid plans
  • Autoreplay of failed runs on paid plans

Side-by-side

Where the routing logic lives.

Both can send a lead to a buyer. The difference is how much of the lead-selling logic you have to build and look after yourself.

Right tool

When to use which.

It depends mostly on how many buyers you have and how much you want to build yourself.

Pick Zapier when

You're testing a handful of buyers, or automating work around your leads.

Zapier connects more than 9,000 apps and has a free plan, so it's a quick, cheap way to get a first buyer live or to move data between the tools you already use. Filters and paths let you build simple routing rules without code.

For everything around lead selling, such as updating a spreadsheet, posting to a chat channel or adding a contact to a CRM, Zapier's breadth is hard to match.

Using both

Hawfinch and Zapier together.

Zapier as a destination

Send leads on to a Zapier workflow.

Hawfinch can deliver to any HTTP endpoint, with field mapping, static fields, body templates and custom headers. A Zapier Catch Hook webhook URL is an HTTP endpoint, so it can be set up as a destination like any other buyer.

This is a generic webhook delivery that you configure. Hawfinch does not have a native Zapier integration.

Dividing the work

Hawfinch routes the lead, Zapier handles the rest.

Let Hawfinch do the lead selling: intake from suppliers, checks, buyer order, caps and revenue. Then use Zapier for the jobs around it, such as copying a sold lead into a spreadsheet, a CRM or a chat channel.

This keeps buyer routing in one place and the Zaps around it short.

Hawfinch vs Zapier FAQ

Is Hawfinch a Zapier alternative?

For routing leads to buyers, yes. Hawfinch has buyer order, fall through, caps, dedup, suppression, HLR, returns and per-buyer revenue built in. For general automation across thousands of apps, Zapier does far more and Hawfinch is not a replacement.

Can I use Zapier and Hawfinch together?

Yes. Hawfinch delivers to any HTTP endpoint, so a Zapier webhook can be a destination in a campaign. It is a generic webhook delivery; there is no native Zapier integration.

How does pricing compare?

Zapier charges by tasks, with a free plan of 100 tasks a month and Professional from $19.99 a month billed yearly for 750 tasks. Hawfinch charges by leads: from £249 a month with 10,000 leads, every feature included.

Where is the data stored?

Zapier's documentation says customer data is stored in AWS US-East-1 in the United States. All Hawfinch data is stored in London.
